What does it mean to be a South Central Scholar?

By filling out and submitting this application, you understand that your acceptance into the South Central Scholars Program means that you must adhere to certain requirements and expectations during your college matriculation. South Central Scholars is different from other programs because you are not just receiving a scholarship, you are receiving an entire network and support system. By receiving a scholarship, you are automatically enrolled in the Mentorship and Jobs & Internships Program. As a requirement of your participation and to be eligible to renew your scholarship each year for the length of your college career, our expectations are:

1) That you will participate in no less than two (2) webinars per year. These webinars are meant to get a gauge of your status in school, connect you to peers, and provide important information that can help you succeed in school!

2) That you will complete no less than one (1) survey and one (1) evaluation per year. These surveys are meant to track your progress through school and get valuable feedback regarding the ability of our programs to meet your needs!

3) That you will reapply each year to renew your scholarship. See the Scholar Center for information on what is needed to renew a scholarship!

4) That you will attend at least one general meeting per year. South Central Scholars holds conferences, mixers, campus visits, and workshops every year to encourage networking and professional/academic development!

Please include your SAT/ACT scores in the boxes provided. If you have not taken that test, please enter "N/A". If you have taken the test and are waiting for your scores, please enter "TBD". Please note that your application will be incomplete without either SAT or ACT scores provided unless you provide a reason in the OTHER COMMENTS section explaining why you did not take these tests.

What college do you plan to enroll in for 2010-2011?

Please list all other colleges and universities to which you were accepted. Please separate each entry by a comma (e.g. Davidson, Cooper Union, Santa Clara). If you did not receive any other acceptances, please type "None."

Please list all scholarships, financial awards, grants, sources of income, etc. that you have applied for or been granted, other than those given as part of your financial aid package from the university you plan to attend. This information will help us to determine your need above and beyond what is already covered by your financial aid package. (A scholarship from the SCS will not take away from your current financial aid packages.) Please indicate if these are renewable from one year to the next or are a one-time award (circle yes or no).

Do not use dollar signs in the "award amount" fields -- simply enter the amount (e.g. 1000, 2000, 5000).

Please check the industry/major(s) that you wish to pursue in college. You can select up to 3 by priority.

Please use the fields below to provide additional information regarding your non-academic activities, goals, and interests.
