Chandler Root, Merrill Lynch

 

R. Chandler Root is a Vice President and the Regional Managing Director of the Los Angeles-Mountain Region for Global Wealth and Investment Management of Merrill Lynch and Co. In this capacity his responsibilities include Managing Director of the Los Angeles Complex and Regional Managing Director responsibilities with the Denver, Colorado Mountain, Utah Intermountain, Nevada/Boise, Pasadena, West LA and Valley Coast Complexes. Chandler is very active in philanthropy. He served on two charity boards in Rochester, Hillside Children?s Center and the Al Sigl Center, as well as taking on positions with the Geva Theatre, Encompass, the Urban League and the American Cancer Society

 

 

Keynote Address I, 9:30am

Ramsey Jay, Jr., Associate Analyst, Ares Management

 

Ramsey Jay, Jr. is widely recognized as a leading expert on developing leaders. He is Wall Street trained, Ivy League educated, advisor to prominent business leaders, author of Weekly Life Lessons in Leadership, and a sought-after keynote speaker and seminar presenter. Ramsey is an Associate Analyst at Ares Management, an investment management firm that specializes in managing assets in both the private equity and leveraged finance markets. Ramsey earned his Masters in Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in finance, from the Craig School of Business at California State University, Fresno.

Derrick Lee, Partner, RebackLee

 

Derrick graduated from UCLA with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics/Business, and earned his CPA in 1994. Derrick has 29 years of accounting experience.

David Long, President, DBL Associates

 

Executive recruiter for 25 years, place high-level finance executives in Southern California. He works with all industries, specifically manufacturing, distribution, entertainment, and services. Bachelors Degree from Colorado College in Political Science, and an MBA from Claremont Graduate University.

Masai Minters, Associate Director, Academic Advancement Program, UCLA

 

Mr. Minters has been with UCLA since 1994. Involved in all things at AAP; Counseling, Mentoring, Tutorial, Summer Program, Grantwriting, and Data Analysis and Evaluation for AAP. He has been active in various civil and human rights organizations and has numerous professional associations with groups and individuals involved with educationally and economically disadvantaged individuals. Born n Raised in Compton, CA. - Centennial HS, 1969. Mr. Minters is a member of the Administrative Board of Directors of UCLA's Academic Advancement Program (AAP) and contributes on several UCLA policy review committees.

 

Dr. Nicole Presley Green, Psychologist, Counseling and Psychological Services, UCLA

 

Dr. Green is a counseling psychologist who received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Southern California. Her areas of interest include academic success among students of color, African American family issues, intimate partner violence, and women?s issues. She currently serves as a coordinator for Transfer Student Support and Outreach program at CAPS.

Keynote Address II, 9:15am

Ted Bagley, Human Resources, Amgen

 

Ted currently serves as Vice President Human Resources-World Wide Operations for Amgen Inc. in Thousand Oaks. He also spent 25 years in human resources with the General Electric Company, a manufacturer of products ranging from large appliances, lighting, electrical components and aircraft engines. Ted earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Franklin Business/Law School after attending Ohio State University for 2 years. He later received his Masters of Education and Counseling degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham North Carolina.
